Fall Home Tour 2018

It’s fall home tour post day with Emily and Sarah and I’M SO EXCITED!!!!  Each year I decorate our home for fall and share it with you.  Most of the decorations I use are the same, but I try to change them up and also add a couple of new things each year to keep it fresh.

I have to say, this year is by far my favorite yet and that is HUGE because last year I was so pleased with everything that I didn’t think I could possibly top myself this year.  Well, guess what?  I did.  Apparently I just keep getting better and better at this decorating thing.  ;o)

Okay, I’ll stop tooting my own horn now… without further ado, here’s our lovely little space all decked out for my favorite season!  Come on in!

Nothing screams fall like mums, and I found the most gorgeous ones ever at Home Depot this year.  Theirs are so gorgeous I don’t think I’ll ever go anywhere else again for mums.  My ferns are still looking pretty good, too, so I wasn’t quite ready to part with them.  We will eventually have pumpkins on the front porch, too, but right now we are still having highs in the mid-nineties every day.  I don’t necessarily want pumpkin pie on the front porch, so we’ll wait until it cools down just a bit before putting those out.

The mantle is almost identical to last year’s mantle, but this year I removed the orange ribbons around those leaf arrangements and tied some buffalo plaid ribbon around them to go with the rest of the buffalo plaid in our house… which is a lot of this year.  Haha.  As usual, we have our seasonal book crate by the fireplace and it holds all of the kids’ favorite fall books.

This year I completely changed the look of the coffee table because it just wasn’t working.  We’ve always had a rectangular serving tray on top, but it has always looked awkward in the space, so I bought this round Hearth and Hand serving tray at Target and I am more in love with this space than I ever thought possible.  This tray is BEAUTIFUL.  When we purchased this coffee table nine years ago, we purchased it on clearance with the intention of painting it, but nine years has gone by and I still haven’t.  #Whoops  Once it’s painted it will look much better, but until then we’ll just keep making do like we have been for the last nine years.  But anyway, back to the décor – my golden pothos plant is still going strong so I left it out and then I added a tiny little pumpkin to the space to “fall it up!”  I removed the old orange leaf ribbon from our candy basket’s handle and I wrapped it with buffalo plaid ribbon as well.  And yes, I already stuffed our basket full of candy and I’m regretting that right about now because it takes some serious self control to have that right in front of me as I sit on the couch each evening watching TV.

Moving on into the kitchen, I got our chalkboard all ready for fall and dolled up the bar cart.  The garland is from Hobby Lobby and I thought it was the perfect addition to the cart.  I added this gorgeous book to my book stand, changed out my paper straws (I keep lots on hand for the different seasons), popped a couple of pumpkins on top, and put our favorite team on the letter board… you know we always have to represent!  And yes, I still have the Christmas lights on the bar cart from last year… they are just so darn festive and they make me happy so why take them down?

The buffalo plaid placemats on the kitchen table are new this year and they are from Hobby Lobby.  They were already cheap plus I got them on sale for 40% off!  #MommaIsAlwaysABargainShopper

When decorating my tiered tray, I just grabbed a bunch of stuff that I already had on hand, most of which is from Hobby Lobby.  The Gather Around sign was a new addition (also from Hobby Lobby) and then that cute squishy cream-colored pumpkin on the bottom left is new from the Target Dollar Spot.  CHEAP!

My very favorite part of all of my decorations from this year is this little corner of our kitchen counter.  All.  The.  Heart.  Eyes.  And y’all, that book has some recipes that will make your mouth water.  I can’t wait to try my hand at a couple this season!

The coffee bar has my fall mugs on it, and a big thanks to Danielle for the pumpkin spice mug… she gave that one to me last year and it’s one of my favorite mugs ever.

There are a few more random decorations sprinkled around the kitchen as well…

And here’s a quick peek at the guest bathroom just off of the kitchen… I put a single pumpkin in there and put out my fall soap because the bathroom should be festive, too!

Finally, before I go, a quick snap of something pumpkin-y in my office.  Now that I stay at home and I spend a lot of time in my home office, I thought I needed something in there to represent as well.  And it's chockablock full of Dark Chocolate Kit Kats... my favorite candy EVER!

Well, that wraps it up!  Below is a list of all of the items I used to decorate.  I linked as many as I could find online!

  2. I am in love with your coffee table decor. It looks so fresh and clean! And the addition of the buffalo check is super cute, too! Especially in that little tray over in the kitchen - such a sweet little corner. Creeping on your coffee / tea tray...is that red tin the Harney's Holiday Tea? I have wanted to try that!

  3. Love how you've decorated for fall! That tray for your coffee table completely changes the look and I love it! And your ferns look really good--I noticed that because mine look horrible because I didn't realize you needed to water them frequently haha first time fern owner ha!

  4. I love it!!! Can you just come decorate my house?? ;) I feel like this year our decorations are taking a back seat to trying to get moved in. It's so strange to have a new space to decorate, and to be honest, a little overwhelming. Hopefully next year will be easier.

  8. I am making a Home Depot and Hobby Lobby run this weekend. I did get some of the $1 spot pumpkins I just need to bring them inside from my car. Somehow 100 degree heat did not motivate me to decorate. You have it everywhere! Love.
