Fall Family Photos 2021

We waited until verrrry late to crank out our family photos this year, so this batch is probably not our best.  In year’s past when we did our own, we got up at the crack of dawn to take the pictures at sunrise, but this year we were lazy, and we ended up having to take them at three in the afternoon when the sun was directly overhead.

We managed to find a sweet little spot in the park near my mother-in-law and step-father-in-law’s house that was shaded by all of the trees, but it was breezy that day, so the tree branches and leaves were constantly swaying, which meant the lighting was constantly changing.  Every time we would have everyone lined up in matching light, the wind would blow and put someone in the bright sun.  Haha.

Needless to say, doing our own photos has lost its luster, even if it does mean saving money… having to find the location, set up the tripod, pose ourselves (which is really hard when you have to be IN the picture), take the pictures and wonder if everyone is looking/smiling, edit the pictures, etc. is soooo much work, and momma’s tired.  Haha.  So after this year, I told B that next year I just want to hire a photographer.  That way, all I’ll have to do is worry about what we’re going to wear and then just show up.  ;o)

Anyway, here are the ones we got for 2021… I can’t believe how old the kids look.  Olivia lost her front baby teeth this year, and we all know how drastically different they look after that.  I actually shed a tear when that second front top baby tooth fell out… neither of our babies look like babies anymore...

A win from this year, though  we finally brought Maui along!  In year's past, we haven't taken her along for the ride, but this year, we finally got her in there, and I know one day we'll cherish these pictures with her.  :o)

Happy Monday, y’all!

  1. They look great. No wonder everyone thinks the kids are twins, they are so close in height! I'm taking family pictures for a friend this week and I'm nervous!

  7. The pics look great! I have always loved your do-it-yourself family photos. I thought I would take a picture in front of the tree over the Thanksgiving break since we were all home. We got ONE shot that looks OK, and I guess I am using that for our card. Oh well?!?

  9. They turned out great! I have always taken photos of the boys (individually and as a group) but whenever we wanted a family photo I did hire a photographer. That way we really only needed the family photo (so I didn't have to make impossible choices about which photos to develop!) and yet I didn't have to deal with trying to get everyone just so.
