This is Twelve… Olivia’s Birthday Interview

Olivia is going to be twelve on Wednesday!  I interviewed her this weekend to ask her the same questions that I ask her every year right before her birthday because I know she’ll enjoy looking back on these one day.

Here’s what she had to say this year, and as always, my commentary is in parentheses. 

 

1.    What is your favorite toy?  “Um, Sheepie.”

2.    What is your favorite stuffed animal?  “Sheepie!”  (Same answer every year ever since we started doing these.  She’s had Sheepie by her side since she was just hours old!)

3.    What is your favorite game?  “Hmmmm… uh… what do you mean?”  Me: “Like, a board game or a card game.”  Olivia: “Maybe, like, Clue?  Or Sorry!”    

4.    What is your favorite sport?  “Um, DANCE, if it counts!  If it doesn’t count, then college football… just to watch, not to do.”  Me: “Of course dance counts!”

5.    What is your favorite book?  “Um, probably the one I just read – The Tapper Twins.”

6.    What is your favorite TV show?  “Um, does it have to be a show or does a movie count?”  Me: “It has to be a show because I’m going to ask you about movies next.”  Olivia: “Maybe one called, A Tale Dark and Grim.”  Me: “What’s that?”  Olivia: “It’s a show that me and Jacob watch.” 

7.    What is your favorite movie?  “Jurassic Park… tee hee.”  (They just watched that for the first time the other night and she pretty much always says that her favorite movie is whichever one she has watched most recently.  Pretty much every movie has been her favorite movie at some point.  Haha.)

8.    What is your favorite song?  “All Taylor Swift songs… definitely ones on her new album.” 

9.    What is your favorite band or singer?  “Taylor Swift!  Only Taylor Swift!”  (We discussed her response from last year and then she wanted to add to her response for this year.)  Olivia: “My three favorite singers are Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, and Ariana Grande.”

10. What is your favorite holiday?  “Christmaaaassss!  Or if it counts, my birthday!” 

11. What is your favorite season?  “Um, favorite season… well, I did like winter, but I think, like, fall?  Because the cool weather… and it’s, um, it has Thanksgiving and Halloween in it.  So, it’s like a jackpot of holidays!” 

12. What is your favorite color?  “PURPLE!  Or, like, lavender.  But my favorite color combo is purple, pink, and blue.” 

13. What is your favorite animal?  “Um, cats and dogs.  I can’t choose between them so don’t ask me which one’s better.  Did you get that?”  (Now she’s trolling me because I told her that last year she was trolling me for not being able to type as fast as her little mouth could talk.) 

14. What is your favorite shirt?  “Um, hmmmm, um, I don’t know.  I have too many shirts… I can’t think of them.”  (She actually doesn’t have that many “normal” shirts because she mostly wears red polo shirts for school uniforms, so I’m not surprised that she didn’t have a favorite this year.  There’s nothing that sticks out in my mind either.)

15. What is your favorite fruit?  “Um, pineapple!”  (It’s pretty much the only fruit she’ll eat right now.) 

16. What is your favorite vegetable?  “Brocolayyyyy.  Oh, wait, wait, wait – for fruits can I add something else??  Brussels sprouts… NO, wait, wait, wait… OKRA!  That’s what it is!”  (The funniest thing is that she gave this exact response last year… she said broccoli and then wanted to revisit the fruit question so she could add okra to it, but she ended up saying brussels sprouts and I had to correct her because I knew she meant okra.)

17. What is your favorite snack?  “Um, Little Bites!” 

18. What is your favorite treat?  “Hmmmm, ice cream or, like, Reese’s peanut butter cups, or the sundaes at Pop and Cokie’s that I make!”  (For the first time in yearssss, she didn’t say gum, so I read to her what she said last year, and she said, “Oh yeah, gum!  I love gum!”)

19. What is your favorite drink?  “Um, my favorite dwink is WATER!  I don’t drink anything else.  And I know that’s already what I say every year.”  (And the w in “dwink” was not a mistake because for some reason she decided to answer this question like she was two years old.  Haha.)

20. What is your favorite thing to eat for dinner?  “Hot dogs and mac n cheeeese!”  (She said it in her best teenager voice.) 

21. What is your favorite restaurant?  “Um, CULVER’S!  I love Culver’s!” 

22. Who is your best friend?  “Maren!  And Charleigh, and Aubrey, and Rebecca, and all the people who went to my birthday party.” 

23. What makes you feel happy?  “Um, when I go to Disney World!  Or when I go to Universal because I just get to forget about stressful things… even though I don’t really have any stressful things in my life.”  (LOL.  I was just about to ask her what stressful things she was referring to, because she really isn’t ever stressed, so it’s funny that she added that last part on her own.) 

24. What makes you feel sad?  “Um… when… I’m never really sad!  Unless one of my friends moves away.”  (This is why we call her our jolly gal, because she really is rarely ever sad.  She is a ray of sunshine!)

25. What are you afraid of?  “Um, hmmmm… SHARKS.  Because they’ve been showing up at the beach a lot lately.  And they also make me sad because then I can’t go in the water as much.”  (This is the first time in 3-4 years she hasn’t said ghosts.  She always says ghosts.) 

26. What are you thankful for?  “Um, God, my family, my house, and that’s pretty much all I need to be thankful for!” 

27. What are you really good at?  “Um, dance!” 

28. What is your best memory?  “Mmmmm, Universal and Disney World!” 

29. What do you want to be when you grow up?  “Um, I wanna be a dancer… or a singer who doesn’t have concerts because I don’t want to sing in front of people.”  (LOL.  She just wants to put out albums and never sing live.)

30. If you could have one wish, what would it be?  “Um, I’d say, for Maui!!”  Me: “So you mean to get to see Maui again?”  Olivia: “Yeah, and to get to have her as a pet forever!”  (So fitting since today marks the one-year anniversary of her death.) 

 

Happy almost twelfth birthday to the jolliest gal we know!  You are our own little ray of sunshine and we love you so much!
