Happy Friday, y’all,
and happy Halloween weekend! We’re going
to have a super full house tomorrow night and I wouldn’t have it any other
way. We are all so excited to continue
our tradition of a Halloween-themed dinner and some trick-or-treating, and even
better this year, the time changes Halloween night, so we get an extra
hour! Then, on Sunday I’m officially
flipping the switch to ALL THINGS CHRISTMAS!
EEEEK!
Are y’all ready for some favorites? I have some fun stuff for you today!
O N E – Travel Mug
Ok, after weeks of searching and reading reviews and debating, I finally settled on this new travel mug, and I’m happy to say it’s perfect in every way. It has every single thing that I wanted in a travel mug, and it’s absolutely beautiful in person!
-
It
has a ceramic inner layer, so my coffee doesn’t get that metallic taste like my
other travel mug
-
But
it’s still metal on the outside so it’s not hot to the touch
-
It’s
the perfect size and it holds more than a standard cup of coffee
-
It
has a handle
-
It
fits in any cup holder
-
It’s
dishwasher safe
-
It
doesn’t have a million pieces that have to be taken apart before washing
-
It
keeps hot drinks hot for up to 6 hours
-
It
keeps cold drinks cold for even longer
-
The
quality is truly top-notch… I am so impressed because this brand is nicer than
a Stanley, an Owala, and a Yeti combined
-
AND
– it came with a rubber boot!!!! I had
no idea when I made the purchase that the bottom was rubber boot, but it
is! It can be removed and the polka dot
pattern continues to the bottom of the cup.
It’s truly the
most perfect travel mug and it’s going to get lots of use! As a matter of fact, I’m using it this
morning while I help out with Trunk or Treat at the kids’ school!
T W O – Gui Gui Slime
This kit is going to be a best seller this holiday season, and right now it is actually in stock here! I already tried and failed to get my hands on one from two other retailers, so I was thrilled to be able to snag one for Olivia. This thing is HUGE and it’s quite impressive, I have to say. It would make a great gift for the holidays, for birthdays, and for any kid, tween, or teen. These kids love slime!
T H R E E – A Stocking
for Belle
We bought our Christmas stockings years ago from Target, and if you know anything about Target, they rarely bring the same things back from season to season. Thankfully, though, these stockings are one of the items that they do keep in stock year after year, and I’m so grateful since I was able to get one for Bellie to match ours. These stockings are just gorgeous in person, and we love ours so much. They’re classic. And they come in every letter option.
F O U R – Matching
Family Holiday Pajamas
If you’re a matching holiday pajama set family, now is the time to scoop them up! Target has some great options this year, and I think these are my favorite! I also really love these.
F I V E – Matthew Perry
Documentary
I haven’t discussed this much here through the years because I’ve always felt that it wasn’t really my place to share any details, but I am related (through marriage) to Matthew Perry. Yes, the Matthew Perry. My cousin married his sister, Mia, back in 2014, and they have been a part of our family ever since.
Mia and David have been working on a documentary for Netflix to honor Matthew’s legacy, and it was released this week. My cousin, David, did the music for the credits at the end of episode one and two, and since they’ve been doing the publicity route for it this week, I thought it would be okay to share just a little here today, too.
If you have followed me for any amount of time, then you know just how much the show Friends means to me, and you probably know that Chandler and Monica were my very favorite characters… I’ve loved them both since I was 12 years old. Most people loved Ross and Rachel, but Monica and Chandler were the goals when I was growing up, and rewatching it all these years later, they still are. So, as you can imagine, I was baffled when I found out my cousin was dating his sister.
I had the absolute privilege of a lifetime to meet and have a conversation with Matty face-to-face at David and Mia’s wedding and to spend the evening in his presence. I also got to listen to the beautiful and hilarious (yes, he really was as hilarious in real life as he was as Chandler on Friends) speech that he gave at their reception. I didn’t ask to take any photos with him that night because I didn’t want to fangirl too hard at a family event, but I do have many photos of him from that night as well as a video of the speech/toast. (And no, I won’t ever share since it’s not my place.)
I was devastated when he passed away, and a celebrity death has never shaken me to the core quite the way that his did. But he was so much more than his addiction. He was a brother and a son and a friend and an uncle to Mia and David’s two girls, and I’m so happy that Mia was able to share his life with everyone through the eyes of those who loved him the most. The documentary is out now on Netflix if you’d like to watch.
This was a beautiful (public) post from my cousin this past weekend.
