Five on Friday - March Goals

I wasn’t very motivated in February, and it most definitely shows here in my goals.  As always, I’m giving myself grace, and I’m hoping that the warm air and sunshine that March usually brings will also bring back my motivation!

Today I’m recapping my February goals and listing my March goals.  As always, I’m using a Y for YES and N for NO to indicate whether or not I accomplished my goals.

February Goals

Relationships/Connect/Be the Light

Y  Catch up with a friend or family member once a week via phone or text. – Yep, got all caught up with several different girlfriends!

Y  Visit my Pop & Grandma’s house with my Dad one last time before it’s sold.

Y  Do a random act of kindness for a loved one. – Sent a coffee to a friend after a taxing week and sent some happy snail mail to some of my best girlfriends for Valentine’s Day (or Galentine’s Day, I guess we should call it).

N  Send happy mail to Olivia’s friend who moved to Florida take, two. – Didn’t get around to doing this again.

Personal/Health/Wellness/Fitness/Beauty

Y  Meditate, quiet time, and affirmations every day.

N  Drink 64 oz. most days. – I was so bad this month, I hardly met my goal at all.  I never feel very thirsty when it’s cold outside, so it was a struggle this month.

Y  Find something new and healthy to add to my lunch rotation. – I started eating a baked sweet potato with a little bit of butter, cinnamon, and brown sugar alongside a big veggie-filled salad and it’s so satisfying.

Y  Close all rings on my Apple Watch at least 14 days.

Y  Do 50 crunches every day.

Y  Visit with therapist via Zoom.

Y  Go to semi-annual dental appointment for TMJ/bite guard.

Y  Donate blood (or at least get an appointment scheduled). – Got it scheduled!

Y  Observe Lent (Best Lent Ever video devotional, gratitude journal, give up something).

Y  Make a hair serum with essential oils. – Lavender and Rosemary are both excellent for hair growth, so I put some of those in a bottle with some jojoba oil, and I’ve been massaging it into my scalp each evening before bed.  It makes my hair oily right then, but I wake up and wash mine every morning so it’s no big deal.  I’ve been doing this for three weeks now, and I can already see a bunch of baby hairs growing in around my hair line.  Woo hoooo!

Y  Read Be the Bridge.

Family/Fun

Y  Celebrate Black History Month. – We did a few things… I had several talks throughout the month with the kids about social injustice.  At school, their principal talked about a different prominent figure in Black History each day during morning announcements, and then the kids would hop in the car after school and tell me all about whomever they’d learned about at school.  We also listened to a lot of music by Black artists (90’s R&B happens to be one of my absolute favorite genres – helllloooo, Boyz II Men!), read books by Black authors, and the kids started a new animated series about a Black family who explores the ocean.  I also personally read Be the Bridge as mentioned above, and I also found some new Black-owned small businesses to support on Instagram.  We’re just continuing to take steps towards increasing diversity in our home to try to be the change this world needs!

Y  Have our own little Super Bowl party, just us four. – We grilled burgers and made homemade guac and chocolate chip cookies and let the kids stay up late to watch the halftime show!

Y  Celebrate Valentine’s Day with a special dinner at home. – We picked up filets from one of our favorite local spots, made Winter White Cosmos, turned on some fancy music, and exchange small gifts.  It was such a sweet evening.

Y  Celebrate Brian’s birthday.

Y  Celebrate Olivia’s birthday.

Y  Start baseball practice.

Y  Book a condo for our beach trip in June. – Literally did this on February 28 so we got it done just in time.  We’re booked and counting down the days until June!  And praying that we can be fully vaccinated before we leave!

Y  Record a video every single day of the month and upload to my One Second a Day app.

Home/Organization/Planning

N  Clean out closet under stairs.

N  Clean out command center.

N  Clean out buffet table in dining room.

N  Clean out my dresser.

N  Clean out my nightstand.

N  Clean out master bathroom.

N  Clean out kids’ bathroom.

Y  Clean out my desk.

Y  Clean out my office closet.

Y  Clean out my purse.

N  Complete 1 thing on Master To-Do list.

Blog/Social Media

Y  Post 4-5 times per week.

N  Share my home decluttering/organizing on Instagram stories.

N  Start sharing daily to-do lists on Instagram stories again.

Y  Reorganize Travel page on blog. – It wasn’t organized very well prior to this, and it always looked too cluttered, so I reorganized it and it’s so much easier to navigate now!

  1. Getting 64oz of liquid is hard! Great funnies. Loved Olivia’s cake. She’s so sweet. And I hope you not only slay those March goals but have a sweet weekend too! xo

  2. It's so hard to get that much water in. It's something my family has been working on, drinking more water. How fun Olivia and B get to celebrate birthdays near each other. I hope you have a great weekend!

  3. Same with the organizing! Why was last month so hard for getting anything organized? I didn't get anything cleaned out and now one of my cabinets I'm scared to open! HA

    Great goals for March!

Seriously, I just want to go to a concert too!

  5. At first as I was reading through I kept thinking "Not motivated? She only has two N's".. then I scrolled further. I have been feeling very unmotivated to do much of anything lately. I even feel like I'm struggling to get up in the morning as I just want to snuggle under the covers and stay there.

    1. Yep, all of the house stuff got put on the back burner because I just wasn't feeling it! Sometimes you just have to go easy on yourself. And yes, I feel you on that... it's hard to get up when it's cold and the bed is all warm and snuggly!

  6. The how each year started meme is too funny. I can't believe it has been a year (almost) since the pandemic started. I didn't feel that motivated in February either. I read one book as well. Ugh. I can't wait to go to a concert, travel and do some of the normal things we soooo miss. Have a great weekend.

  10. My water intake was down this last month, too. Gotta get back to it! It always amazes me the difference it makes. I know March is going to be much more your speed and you will be checking things off right and left!
