This is Fifteen… Jacob’s Birthday Interview

Jacob’s birthday is later this week, so as I do every year, I interviewed him and I asked him the same 30 questions I’ve been asking him each year on his birthday since he was four years old.  I have no clue how much longer he’s going to let me do this, and I’m so grateful he’s still willing to participate.  :o)  Also, I cannot believe this baby is going to be FIFTEEN YEARS OLD.

 

As always, my commentary is in parenthesis.  Here’s the interview from July 15, 2026.  And also, the picture above just about sums up his personality these days.  Haha.  He is always a goofball!

 

1.    What is your favorite toy?  “Um, can I say a tie between three things?”  Me: “Of course.”  Jacob: “Legos, Pokemon, and Palm Pals.”  (And Palm Pals was spoken in he and Olivia’s special voice that’s reserved just for Palm Pals.  Lol.)

2.    What is your favorite stuffed animal?  “Either Kai or Tiny.”  Me: “Which ones are those?”  Jacob: “Kai is a preying mantis, and Tiny is a turtle with a little tuft of hair.  And they’re Palm Pals.”

3.    What is your favorite game?  “Minecraft.  Or is this just board games?”  Me: “It can be both.”  Jacob: “Ok, Minecraft.”  Me: “And for the board game?”  Jacob: “Oh, um, I don’t know, maybe Bluffaneer?” 

4.    What is your favorite sport?  “Um, to watch, football.  To play, soccer or golf.”  Me: “SOCCER??”  Jacob: “I don’t know.”  (The kid hasn’t played soccer since he was, like, five or six so that was a shocking answer.  Lol.)

5.    What is your favorite book?  “Um, probably the Tears of the Kingdom guide that I have.”

6.    What is your favorite TV show?  “Friends.”  (Yessss.  We just started watching this with both kids this summer and I love that they love it so much because it’s my favorite show of all time.)

7.    What is your favorite movie?  “Um, probably Avatar 2… maybe 3… I don’t know.”

8.    What is your favorite song?  “Dreiton.”  Me: “What?  How do you spell that?”  Jacob: “D-R-E-I-T-O-N.”  Me: “What is that from?”  Jacob: “Mince-raft.”  (AKA Minecraft.  He always calls it Mince-raft.  Haha.)

9.    What is your favorite band or singer?  “C418.  He wrote Dreiton.”  (That is the artist’s name for many of the Minecraft songs but I’m not sure what it actually means.)

10. What is your favorite holiday?  “Um, probably Christmas.  Yeah, Christmas.”  (It’s his favorite every year.)

11. What is your favorite season?  “Fall, probably.”

12. What is your favorite color?  “Green?  Or blue.  They’re probably tied.”  (He says this every single year.)

13. What is your favorite animal?  “Dog.”  Me: “Last year, you said octopus.”  Jacob: “OCTOPUS?!”  (That must have been a very short phase because he was shocked that he said it and he didn’t remember saying it.)

14. What is your favorite shirt?  “Uh, my red Georgia shirt with the black dots.”  Olivia reading his answers from last year over my shoulder: “You ended your three-year streak.”  Jacob: “My teal shirt?”  Olivia cracks up because he did say his teal shirt three years in a row and he knew exactly what she was talking about.

15. What is your favorite fruit?  “Blackberries.”  (He ended his three-year streak of saying watermelon.)

16. What is your favorite vegetable?  “None, but broccoli is the most tolerable.”  (He literally says this every year, too.)

17. What is your favorite snack?  Olivia interjects, “Come on, Jacob!!”  (Because she wants him to say the same thing as last year.)  Me: “No, we don’t want the same answers every year, we just want honest answers.”  Jacob: “LITTLE BITES!”  (Olivia cracks up because that’s the answer she’s looking for.)  Jacob: “Specifically the blueberry ones.”

18. What is your favorite treat?  “Huh…probably just like vanilla cake or cookie cake.”

19. What is your favorite drink?  “Lemonade.”  (He said Gatorade last year.)

20. What is your favorite thing to eat for dinner?  “Um, breakfast, probably.”

21. What is your favorite restaurant?  “Culverga.”  (AKA Culver’s… he always calls it Culverga.  Haha.)  “IHOP is pretty good, too.”

22. Who is your best friend?  “Probably either WJ or Julian, one of them.” 

23. What makes you feel happy?  “Uh, my family, video games, uh, my friends.”

24. What makes you feel sad?  “When Olivia hits me.”  (Then he and Olivia crack up because they both know he’s being silly.)

25. What are you afraid of?  “Death.” (Says this in a really creepy voice just like he did last year and Olivia cracks up yet again.)

26. What are you thankful for?  “My family, my friends, God, um, my toys, and yeah…” 

27. What are you really good at?  “Playing the piano, uh, solving the Rubik’s Cube, uhhhh, Minecraft and TOTK.”

28. What is your best memory?  “Disney World.”  (This is the eighth year in a row that he said Disney World so I guess it’s his favorite thing ever!)

29. What do you want to be when you grow up?  “I want to be an aerospace engineer or a Minecraft streamer.”  (This is the fifth year that he’s said streamer… in year’s past he specifically said YouTuber, but this year he just said streamer.  And this is the third year in a row that he’s said engineer.)

30. If you could have one wish, what would it be?  “Um, to make anything happen when I wanted it to so I could make the Lego Eiffel Tower set appear in front of me.”  (He mentioned the Eiffel Tower Lego set for this answer last year, too.)
