Hey, y’all! Happy Monday! Amazon orders were steady in January… I had a couple of gift cards to spend after Christmas, so I made a couple of purchases for items on my wish list, plus I needed to replenish a few things around the house. Olivia also asked to order a couple of things with her own money, and I made purchases for a few small items for Valentine’s Day and Olivia’s birthday. Here’s what I purchased in the month of January…
Apple Watch
Band
This watch band is STUNNING – even more beautiful in person – and it only costs a small fraction of the price of the original from Altar’d State. Every link is removeable so you can adjust yours to the perfect fit, and although, it’s a little awkward to get on and off at first (until you beat the learning curve), it’s completely worth it because it looks ah-maaaazingggg on. I have only worn mine a few times, but I’ve been complimented on it every single time. I cannot stop looking at it every single time I’m wearing it.
Pantyhose
I’ve owned these nude pantyhose for years, and they are perfect because they are
so sheer that they cover and blur the imperfections on your legs without
looking like they’re even there. They’re
the epitome of nude. They also add a
slight bit of color to my legs during the winter when I’m extra pale from not
seeing the sun. I ordered replacements
since mine finally bit the dust and got a run in them, and I was so sad to see
that they slightly changed their nude shade since the last time I purchased them. The originals were the perfect shade for me,
but the new ones have more pink undertones rather than tan, so I’m not loving
them as much as the old version. Jury is
still out on whether or not I’ll keep them… it depends on how I feel about the
other options I purchased.
Pantyhose
Option 2
I purchased this option to try after I received the new version of the Leggs pantyhose, and I’m still waiting for them to deliver. Pantyhose with a sheen are super trendy right now (Taylor Swift wears them all the time), and these look promising as they have excellent reviews.
Pantyhose
Option 3
I also purchased these to try, so I’ll have to let y’all know what I think when I receive them. They, too, have excellent reviews, and they look fantastic in the pictures. I guess we shall see if they live up to the reviews!
Electric
Kettle
Where oh where has this electric kettle been all my life?! Y’all. I am a big tea drinker – I drink at least two cups a day – and I have never owned an electric kettle until recent weeks. This electric kettle has completely elevated my entire tea drinking experience because it is SO EASY to use. It brings my water to a boil in just about three minutes with the push of a single button, and it looks so sleek and beautiful on my countertop while doing it. I cannot recommend getting one of these… I just know I’ll use it for far more than tea!
Dusting
Gloves
This year I plan to dust all the blinds in our house, and I was dreading it until I found these microfiber gloves. These things are genius, y’all! As much as I love my Swiffer Duster, it’s not ideal for dusting blinds as it’s a little too fluffy to get in between each of the slats. A microfiber cloth would be a good idea, but again, it takes extra time and energy to maneuver it between the slats over and over again. So, when I found these gloves, I knew they were going to be a winner. It seems like such an obvious solution, but it’s not anything I’ve ever seen anyone use anywhere… I just happened to stumble upon them when I was searching for easy ways to clean blinds. I tested them out the other night, and these are SUCH a gamechanger, y’all. They make cleaning blinds fast and easy, and dare I say a bit more enjoyable simply because after a million years I finally found an easy solution? All you have to do is put on the gloves, and then you use your fingers to clean. The gloves allow for better maneuvering, you can get in each of the little spaces much easier, and since they’re made from microfiber, the dust clings to them like a magnet. When you’re done, toss them in the washing machine and dryer, and then use them again and again. I cleaned an entire set of blinds the other night in our bedroom in just ten minutes. Cleaning the blinds in our house is long overdue, and I’m so pumped that I finally found a way to make it a much less painful task.
Tissue
Box Cover
I mentioned this on the blog already, but I just started following @carissacleansitall on Instagram, and she has been suuuuch a motivator for me to get my house not only tidy, but CLEAN. In all her Reels, she tidies and/or cleans areas of her house, and every single time she cleans her nightstand, I swoon over her tissue box cover. SO RANDOM, I KNOW. After seeing it several times, I decided to check out her link expecting them to be super expensive (because they look so dang sleek!), so imagine my surprise when I found out that they were under $16 for a two pack!! We have had metal (silver) tissue box covers in three spaces of our house for more than a decade, and no matter how often I clean them, they alwayssss look dirty because the lint from the tissues gets all over the top and eventually it gets all stuck on there and hard to clean because of the humidity in the bathrooms. It’s so annoying. When I saw how inexpensive these were, I grabbed two packs of two, and I replaced the one in our bathroom, the one by Brian’s side of the bed, and the one in the kids’ bathroom, and I FINALLY added a tissue box next to my side of the bed. I have lived without a box of tissues by my bed for the last 16 years (since we moved in this house) and I don’t know why I never just put one there. Haha. Now, I have the convenience of having the tissues close (yes, I use them multiple times per day year-round because my allergies are so bad), and they don’t look tacky and/or gross from all the tissue lint. The cream leather box totally elevates the space, too. Simple things like this truly bring me joy. Haha! Oh, and these come in lots of different colors and patterns! This rattan version is beautiful, too.
Valentine’s
Day PJs
These heart PJs are the perfect gift for Valentine’s Day, and they come in extended sizes, so they fit tweens through adults. We don’t do much for Valentine’s Day, but we always give the kids a small gift and a card, and I know Olivia is going to be so excited to receive these! I purchased the XXS for her and they look like they should be the perfect size! They come in many other patterns, too.
Silicone
Curling Iron Travel Pouch
This curling iron pouch is genius! It lays flat on your counter to protect surfaces from your hot hair tools, and it doubles as a travel pouch, opening up to hold any hot hair tool. Since it’s made from silicone, you can put the hair tools in the pouch while they’re still hot, so there’s no need to wait forever for it to cool before you pack! I use this thing every single day as it rests on our marble countertops to protect them, and when I travel, I’ll finallyyyy have a place to put my hot curling iron when I need to pack! I used to lay mine on the air vents in hotel rooms to try to cool it faster, and now I won’t have to worry about that!
CD
Book Frame
I was able to get autographed CDs from Taylor Swift’s website when she released them late last year, and I finally got around to getting them framed. I ordered this frame and it’s perfect! The quality is excellent, and the best part is that the mat has cutouts on the back, so the CD covers lay in there perfectly and don’t slide around. I don’t have to use tape to hold them in place which means they will stay in pristine condition.
Pencil
Case
Olivia wanted a new pencil case, and she chose this one as it has ample room for all the things she likes to carry around. It’s large (but not too big) and it has multiple pockets for organizing pens, pencils, scissors, stickers, markers, and pretty much anything else you could want to carry around. It comes in many different colors and it’s a great value as the quality is excellent! She was thrilled when it arrived and she immediately sat down to organize it. She is most definitely getting the organizing itch the older she gets and I’m here for it!
String
Lights
We purchased these lights for Olivia’s bedroom, and for just $9.99, we got 130 feet of lights, all on two plastic strands. They plug into the wall so we don’t have to worry about batteries, and you can control them with the remote control (included) or via the app on your phone or tablet (for free). They are completely customizable – the color (you can choose from 16 million colors on the app), the movement (blinking, chasing, jumping, fading, static, breathing, etc.), the speed of the movement, the brightness, and so much more. You can sync them to music or to the sound of your voice, and they have smart timer settings with auto-shutoff and on. They’re made from similar material as a tape measure (the ones that you can wrap around your body), so you can pretty much put them anywhere! I don’t think I’ve ever been so impressed with the technology in one small $10 item. Olivia is completely and utterly obsessed with them – she has them on all the time when she’s in her room now, and she’s texted pictures and videos of them to every single person she knows. Haha. Right now, we have them wrapped around her bed headboard and footboard, but we still have more than half the footage left for her to use somewhere else in her room eventually.
Muffin
Cups
I’ve had the same silicone muffins cups for more than a decade now, and recently, they started causing our muffins to have a perfume-y taste. I have no clue why, but it turned me off to silicone cups, so I went back to traditional paper cups. You can’t beat this price… they come out to just $0.01 each.
Palm
Pals S’more
The kids have been collecting these cute little Palm Pals for years and there are a gazillion of them – they make one for almost every holiday, theme, or idea that you could want. I bought this S’mores one for Jacob for Valentine’s Day and it’s such a little cutie.
Palm
Pals Cake
This was the one that we picked out for Olivia for Valentine’s Day… are these not the cutest little things?!
Valentine’s
Day Card
Here’s your reminder that Amazon has a million different choices for greeting cards for all holidays and events!! I’ve gotten to where I purchase most of mine there rather than at brick-and-mortar stores, because I can find exactly what I’m looking for on Amazon right away, while in the store I have to pick up, read, and put down cards over and over again until I find something I like. Prices on Amazon are comparable to what you would pay at Walmart or Target, and they have some really cute and funny ones for kids!
Blinds
Cleaner
Before I found my beloved cleaning gloves, I ordered this set to clean the blinds. When it arrived, I knew immediately it wasn’t going to work because our slats aren’t close enough together. I think if you have the narrow slats, this would be a great option, but it didn’t work for ours at all, so I returned it.
Swiffer
Duster Refills
For dusting surfaces, I have loved Swiffer dusters for years. Just slide one of the dusters on the wand, dust, remove the duster, and toss. Each duster traps all the dust in its folds, and I can dust every surface in our house using just one duster… except for the blinds of course. ;o)
Smarty
Pants Multi Vitamins
This is the multi vitamin that I take daily, and they went on super sale, so I grabbed a bottle even though I wasn’t quite in need of a refill! I love these because they contain everything that I look for in a multi vitamin and they also include Omega-3s!
